Warm Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic Therapy is decompressive. It allows those suffering from degenerative joint disease relief from gravity-related stress on the articular surface.
Health at your fingertips.
Aquatic exercises provide graduated hydrostatic pressure, which can aid in lymphatic drainage, and decrease swelling. Additionally, aquatic therapy is self-paced. The patient can control the intensity of the exercise by adjusting the speed they move through the water. We use aquatic therapy to treat various injuries, including joint dysfunction, low back pain, gait or balance abnormalities, and neurological conditions such as stroke. The pool allows individuals who may have difficulty in typical physical therapy the opportunity to benefit from the rewards of exercise without the risk of injury. Post-surgically, the pool can be used to ambulate and exercise within weight-bearing restrictions while offering patients the many advantages of water.
We’ve got a plan for everyone.
About Our Pools
Aquatic Therapy For ACL, MCL, and Meniscus Tear
After eight weeks of post-operative land-based physical therapy, this volleyball player reached a plateau in her recovery from ACL, MCL, and meniscus tears. Learn how aquatic therapy using a HydroWorx pool helped her make new strides in her healing process. Despite several weeks of land-based therapy, she continued to struggle with her range of motion and endurance. Following two sessions per week for three weeks, the patient was able to resume progress in land-based physical therapy.
Our HydroWorx pool is designed to enhance aquatic therapy outcomes. It features an integrated treadmill and water jets to expand the variety of exercises patients can perform in the pool. The treadmill offers additional opportunities for gait training and sport-specific activities for athletic recovery. Resistance jets allow clinicians to increase the intensity of a drill or provide deep tissue massage.
Decompress
The decompressive nature of the aquatic environment can provide relief for joint pain and arthritic conditions. As a person enters the water, the pressure on their joints decreases, allowing for increased mobility and reduced pain. This is especially beneficial for those with arthritis or other conditions that cause joint pain and stiffness. Aquatic therapy, which utilizes the buoyancy and resistance of water, is a popular treatment method for individuals seeking relief from joint pain. The decreased joint compression in the water allows for a greater range of motion, improved flexibility, and a reduction in inflammation. For those seeking a low-impact exercise that can help alleviate joint pain, aquatic therapy is an effective and therapeutic option.
Good For The Heart
Early facilitation of cardiovascular endurance can lead to an earlier incorporation of cardiovascular and core exercises in the rehabilitation process. By promoting cardiovascular endurance in the early stages of rehabilitation, patients can begin to build a foundation for improved fitness and overall wellness. This foundation enables them to engage in more advanced exercises, including cardiovascular and core strengthening exercises, earlier in the rehabilitation process. This not only speeds up the recovery process, but also helps prevent further injury and promotes a more comprehensive and effective recovery. By working with a healthcare professional to develop a tailored rehabilitation plan that includes early cardiovascular facilitation, patients can achieve improved physical fitness and regain function more quickly.

FAQs
-
Aquatic therapy offers the benefit of reduced gravity, which decompresses your joints resulting in less pain. The flow of water around the joints also provides hydrotherapy to reduce pain.
Aquatic therapy may be a great option for patients who:
Have difficulty completing land-based exercises and need to build up strength prior to a transition back to land-based PT.
Have a higher fall risk due to limited mobility or issues with balance/coordination.
Need gait re-training (how you walk) under limited amounts of gravity.
Are post-surgical after orthopedic procedures, such as hip/knee/shoulder replacements and more.
Our underwater treadmill allows for the restoration of normal gait (how you walk) with and without support to re-train your muscles and joints before walking unsupported under the full force of gravity.
