Frequently Asked Questions
Here’s a small list of some of our most frequently asked questions – feel free to look around and contact us (CALL or WRITE) if we can answer a question for you.
Do I need a referral?
Most insurance policies do not require a referral prior to treatment, however, it is best to contact your insurance provider’s customer services to find out for sure.
Will I be treated on my first visit?
Everybody and every body is different. Each patient is thoroughly assessed on their first visit and every effort to improve your comfort is made.
How long will my visit take?
Because of the thorough exam and time spent reviewing your medical history, the first visit is usually 45 to 60 minutes. Regular follow-up visits are usually 30 to 45 minutes depending upon your treatment plan. Massages may be scheduled ahead of time in addition to your treatment for 10, 30, or 60 minutes. Physical Therapy appointments routinely last an hour.
Where are you located?
Our main office is located at 3000 Williston Rd in South Burlington, VT., just east of Petfood Warehouse. Our Aquatic Therapy facility is located at 1 Market Place, Suite 27 in Essex Junction, VT, two doors down from Vermont Central Vacuum.
What are your hours?
To provide the most flexible schedule for our patients, our hours vary daily and can be found here.
What is a chiropractic adjustment?
When a patient complains of pain or limited mobility, the doctor will check the spine and other joints for abnormal joint restrictions. These restrictions can cause pain and dysfunction as well as muscle spasm. The adjustment is a quick movement designed to restore normal mobility, realigning the spine thus increasing function and decreasing pain.
What is that “popping” sound that happens with an adjustment?
That sound is air being released from the joint space as joint mobility is restored. Sometimes the sound is very loud and other times there is no sound at all.
Do I have to be “cracked” to get relief with the adjustment?
Every patient is different and every treatment is different. At Living Well Center for Integrative Health, we tailor the treatment to you and what your body needs. We offer equally effective “non-popping” and “non-twisting” adjustments as well as more traditional chiropractic treatments.
What sort of Chiropractic style do you use?
The short answer is, the one that’s right for you. At Living Well we use a variety of chiropractic techniques, adapting to fit each patient’s needs. The most common techniques that we use are: diversified (the “pop”), drop table, flexion/distraction, activator, gentle mobilization, pediatric adjusting, and neuromuscular reeducation.
What sort of massage therapies are offered at Living Well?
Our massage therapists each have their own style, and draw from their extensive training. Therapeutic massage techniques include: Swedish, deep tissue, neuromuscular re-education, pin and stretch, prenatal, myofascial release, and cupping.
Does insurance cover Chiropractic?
We accept most major insurance policies including BlueCross BlueShield, CIGNA, CBA, MVP, United Healthcare (for Chiropractic only, not Physical Therapy), Medicare, Medicaid/VHAP. We will electronically bill your insurance at the time of your visit. Please keep in mind that you may have a yearly deductible as well as co-payments and co-insurance that are the patient’s responsibility.
What about Workers Compensation and Auto Accident or Personal Injuries?
We treat injuries regardless of their cause and will bill your Worker’s Compensation or your Personal/Auto insurance directly.
